Dear Parents and Carers...
Welcome to a new term from our headteacher Sarah Sims
Dear parents and carers,
I hope your children have all enjoyed the first week of the term and our new starters in Y7 and Y12 have been made welcome and settled in well.
This week we have enjoyed the benefits of the slight relaxation of the Covid restrictions and a return to a more ‘normal’ school. However, it is important that we are all aware that Covid rates are still high and the pandemic is definitely not over. We have an outbreak management plan that will involve reintroducing some, or all, of the control measures we had last term (including face coverings and the removal of break) in the event of an outbreak. It is important that we all work together to avoid this if possible:
- If your child has Covid symptoms, do not send them to school and book a PCR test.
- Remind your children to use the LFD tests twice weekly.
- If your child tests positive for Covid (either LFD or PCR test), they should self-isolate immediately.
- If your child is identified as a close contact of a positive case, book a PCR test (they can continue to attend school whilst they are waiting for the result).
Timings of the school day
A reminder that school starts at 9.15am and all students should aim to be on site by 9.10am at the latest. This is 15 minutes earlier than before the summer holidays.
School meals
Taylor Shaw are now offering a wide selection of school meals to all year groups at lunchtime. The menu can be viewed here. Breakfast is also available in the dining room from 8.30 to 9.00am daily.
PTA meeting
The first meeting of the PTA will take place remotely on Monday 20th September at 7:30pm. If you would like to attend, please email enquiries@silverdale.chorustrust.org
Covid Update
4 students have tested positive for Covid this week: one Y8, one Y9 and two Y13s.
Best wishes,
Sarah Sims
