Attitude to Learning
At Silverdale, we measure how well your child is engaging in their lessons through ATL – Attitude to Learning. This is reported to you throughout the year as a score between 1 (exceptional) and 4 (inadequate), with the aim being to get an average ATL score as close to 1 as possible.
When teachers are deciding what score to award to your child, they think about 5 different things. They ask themselves about the 5Rs:
- How ready to learn are they?
- How resilient are they?
- How resourceful are they?
- How respectful are they?
- How reflective are they?
Each time students receive an ATL score, they have an opportunity to reflect on it and set themselves targets for the term ahead.
