Dear parents and carers...
A message from our head of school.
Dear Parents and Carers,
Smartphone Consultation - Parents of children in Years 7 to 10
As explained in my letter dated 4th October 2024, we are consulting with students, parents and staff about changing our approach to smartphones from September 2025.
If you have children in Years 7 to 10, we would like to know your views so please can you watch the recorded presentation and complete the survey (NB: the links for the video and survey have been emailed directly to parents of students within our school)
The survey closes on Monday 18th November.
We have no plans to change our approach to smartphones for Year 12 and Year 13, and so there is no need for parents with children only in Years 11,12 or 13 to complete the survey.
New Silverdale School website to be launched
We are pleased to announce that, shortly after the half-term break, we will be launching the new Silverdale School website.
When it is launched, the website will still be available at www.silverdale.chorustrust.org and will provide up-to-date information, organised in a simplified structure to make it easier to find the information you are looking for. The new site will continue to contain the information most valued by parents and carers, including term dates and staff member details, calendar items and curriculum and extracurricular information.
Attendance Reporting Reminder
Please notify the school of your child’s absence on the first day of an unplanned absence as soon as possible, or by 10am at the latest. You can reach the attendance staff by calling the Absence Line at 0114 2369991 and selecting option 1.
If your child’s absence extends beyond five days, the school will require medical evidence, such as a doctor’s note, prescription, appointment card, or other suitable proof. Medical evidence is requested only when necessary; however, if your child’s attendance falls below 90%, this will be required. If no evidence is provided when requested, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised, and parents will be notified.
Fundraising Events
Many thanks to our students and their families for supporting our ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ Day. We raised £725 and it was pleasing to see how many students showed support for the charity by wearing something red.
The Sixth Form Head Student Team and students organised a bake sale this week. £158 was raised for Door 43, a local mental health charity that supports young people in Sheffield.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes
Sarah Sims
