Published on 13/08/15
Silverdale students and staff are celebrating another year of outstanding A level results from its 172 A2 students. We are especially proud of our students' achievements considering that there were no opportunities to take or retake modules in January this year.
The percentage of passes at A* - B yet again exceeded 60%, with the average grade across all subjects being an impressive B grade. Overall achievement per student showed an increase from last year. The overall pass rate at A level was 99.4% with 85% of passes at A*-C maintaining last year's outstanding success which placed Silverdale in the top 2% of school's nationally for progress made by students during their A level studies.
Six students were successfully placed at Oxbridge Colleges, a success rate of 60% exceeding the national success rate of around 20%. There were many outstanding individual performances with 26 students, 15% of the whole cohort, achieving all grades at A or A*. Silverdale students also achieved an increase in high passes in subjects preferred by the most prestigious Universities with 26% of students gaining grades of at least AAB, a 4% rise from 2014.
We are delighted that the majority of students will be taking up University places studying a range of vocational and academic subjects, with well over a third of students achieving places at prestigious Russell group Universities.
