Dear Parents and Carers...

A message from our Head of School

Dear Parents and Carers,

Speak Up Reporting Tool: Improving our reporting systems at Silverdale

We have successfully launched our new “Speak Up” reporting tool to all year groups this week.

“Speak Up” has been designed to allow students to report any unsafe or unkind behaviour that they are aware of taking place in school to our pastoral team in a discreet and anonymous manner.

The reporting tool is located in the “classwork” section of their form class on Google Classroom. Any student who wishes to report any unsafe or unkind behaviour to us can just click this link, complete the form and submit it to us. Pastoral staff in school will then receive the report and be able to investigate thoroughly as per our normal processes.

When students report issues to us using Speak Up, we are committing to the following:

  • The person reporting the issue to us will be kept completely anonymous, and their name will never be used as part of our investigation.
  • Once a person has submitted a report to school, then there is a good chance it will not be necessary for a member of staff to speak to the person about the issue.
  • Due to the nature of some issues that may be reported to us, if we do need to speak to the person submitting the report, then we will commit to doing this discreetly.

As you are no doubt aware, the safety and well-being of our students is absolutely paramount at Silverdale, and we hope that “Speak Up” will provide a fast, discrete and effective method for students to help us continue to reduce unsafe or unkind behaviour more effectively at Silverdale.

If you have any questions about “Speak Up”, or the pastoral system here at Silverdale, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

You will find a copy of the newsletter attached to the email, but here is a link to it too: https://bit.ly/SCUPassportActivityNewsletterChristmas22

It’s got lots of fun activities happening during the Christmas holidays and there are also links to our very own Sheffield CU home learning challenges which can be done for no cost at home, and earn CU credits.

Christmas Festive Day and Foodbank Collection - Wednesday 14th December

On Wednesday 14th December, there will be a range of activities taking place which include a Festive Jumper Day (to wear on top of normal school uniform) and Christmas Lunch. We are encouraging students, families and staff to donate tins or packets of food to donate to our Christmas Food Bank Collection. Students can drop off their food donations in the collection boxes at the main entrance.

Kind regards,

Sarah Sims
