Teaching and Learning at Silverdale: Information for parents and carers about what, when and how your child learns at school 

We really value the links we have with Silverdale families. We hope that you, as parents and carers, feel that you are welcomed and listened to at Silverdale.  During the pandemic, the learning links between school and home became closer, and many families became more familiar with what, when and how their child was learning.  We know that parents and carers want clear information about their child's studies. 

A big project this year has been to put your child's curriculum into "non-teacher speak" and we will be sharing this over the coming weeks.  There is already an overview of the curriculum for each subject and Key Stage on the website.  However, we have now added information about the sequence of topics, links to resources and how we assess for every subject in Years 7, 8 and 9 (available at www.silverdale-chorustrust.org/curriculumy7to11).  Key Stages 4 and 5 will follow in the first weeks of the new term.  We sincerely hope that the course curriculum overviews will support you and your child at home and build on our positive home-school relationships.  We look forward to hearing your feedback.

 

PTA

The next PTA meeting to take place on Tuesday 26^th April 2022. If you would like to attend please inform school through enquiries@silverdale.chorustrust.org. We welcome anyone who wishes to support this valuable team to fundraise for school.

 

Reporting Student Absence – Reminder

If your child is unable to attend school due to illness please:

Inform school before 10am either by telephone (0114 2369991 and select option 1) or email absence@silverdale.chorustrust.org and tell us your child’s name, form group and the reason for their absence.  

If your child is absent for several days, please provide this information every day until they return to school.

 

Changes to Covid Guidance

The DFE has issued new guidance from Friday 1st April:

• Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended.
• Schools will no longer give out test kits to staff or pupils.
• Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school, college or childcare when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend.
• For children and young people aged 18 and under with a positive test, the advice will be they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days.

 

Y8 Parents' Evening 

The Y8 Parents’ evening will be held virtually on the calendared date of Tuesday 26^th April 2022.  Please look out for an email in the first week after the holidays with details.
