Headteacher's update 9 (for Y10 & Y12)
Published on 10/06/20
Dear students, parents and carers in Year 10 and Year 12,
I hope you and your family are safe and well.
As you know, Sheffield City Council had previously advised schools to delay opening further to some year groups. This morning they informed us that their Director of Public Health believes good progress has been made in addressing the concerns he had about public safety, and that schools can now open more widely from next week.
Therefore, we will be allowing small groups of both Year 10 and Year 12 students back into school from Monday 15 June. Students will come in for one day only each week and there will be strict procedures in place to ensure the safety of both them and our staff.
We will be writing to both parents and students in Years 10 and 12 tomorrow, with detail of each student's one-day timetable and the arrangements in school. We will also be sending a link to a brief survey, which we want parents to complete after they have read this information. This will allow us to anticipate how many students will return next week.
You can read the full detail of Sheffield City Council's letter to parents on our website here.
Thank you for your patience and support. There is an enormous amount of work taking place behind the scenes, but I assure you we are doing everything we can to support our students and provide them with the education they deserve.
With very best wishes,
Mrs Sarah Sims
Head of Silverdale School
