Every year Year 9 students memorise a poem from a small collection put together by the English department. They recite them and a winner is chosen from each class. They then go into a final round reciting two poems. The overall winner then goes into the national competition. 

The class winners were: Harris H-K, Beth R, Rebecca S, Matthew G, Lucy W, Mia J, James S T, Marcus W and Mukhtar O.

Head of English, Mr Benn, said: "The overall standard was just brilliant and we are really proud of them."
