The Sundays Times rates Silverdale one of the Best Secondary Schools in the North.
The Sunday Times released its annual Schools League Table yesterday and we were delighted to see that Silverdale made the top 10 Best Secondary Schools in the North.
Silverdale ranked sixth in the list of 20 schools which includes a further three in Sheffield. It is an understatement to say that making it onto this list is a group effort; Silverdale would not be there without the ongoing and often unseen efforts of staff, pupils and parents.
Head of School, Sarah Sims, said: “We are delighted to receive this recognition for our students and staff. Despite the challenging financial situation that schools face nationally, we have worked extremely hard to preserve a broad and balanced curriculum so that our students can explore and develop their talents within a fully rounded education.Whether they are academic, creative, athletic, or entrepreneurial, our students can thrive in an environment that is caring and supportive.”
It is also a privilege to see the city of Sheffield well-represented in the list and to be part of a Northern Powerhouse of educational excellence which bodes well for the city in future.
Sarah Sims says, “Our strength comes from our diversity and we believe that Silverdale students leave our school prepared for the modern world, as inquisitive and emotionally intelligent young citizens. Every month I hear from former students who have gone on to do great things, to really contribute to their community and the wider world – and that is the best accolade we could hope for.”
