At the end of week 3 I can report that our new students have settled in very well despite the additional challenges this year and that the off-site Y13 exams have ran very smoothly.

What to do if your child or a household member develops Coronavirus symptoms

If your child or anyone in your household develops symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19):

• your household should isolate immediately and you should book a test for anyone with symptoms at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119,
• your child should not attend school,
• if your child has a positive result you should notify the school and your child should isolate for 10 days.
• members of your household should isolate for 14 days,
• if your child is not a known contact of a confirmed case they can return to school if the result is negative, provided they feel well and they have not had a fever for 48 hours,
• if your child is a contact of a confirmed case they must stay off school for the 14-day isolation period, even if they test negative. This is because they can develop the infection at any point up to day 14.

The main Coronavirus symptoms are:

• a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature),
• a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual),
• a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.

I am aware that it is currently difficult to book a test and that it is taking several days to receive the results.  However, if your child has displayed symptoms, they cannot return to school until they have either have a negative test result, or have self-isolated for 10 days since the start of symptoms.  In addition, all household members should self-isolate, and so siblings cannot return to school until either there is a negative test result, or they have self-isolated for 14 days.
