Well done to all those students who take part in the Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme. Between you, you have provided services in the community for a total of 1,287 hours - equivalent to £5,589 worth of work! 

Participants have been volunteering for the Scouts, on Park Runs, in care homes, in primary schools, at a cat shelter, in the school library and coaching younger students playing a sport - even homeschooling younger siblings during lockdown!

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme is the leading youth achievement award, offering 14-24 year olds the opportunity to get recognition for the extra-curricular activities they undertake and to try new activities, such as going on an expedition. All pupils have the opportunity to benefit from the experience and about 45 pupils take up the Bronze scheme in Y9 with around 30 go on to achieve their Gold award in Y12 and 13.
